Parrot Face and Ball Child.

These are my two masks made in the spirit of the Naive or Laval Mask.

The Neutral/Naive mask brings a childlike playfulness into the rehearsal room and performance space.  They  are capable of expressing a depth of emotion as exemplified by some of the early works by Trestle Theatre Company (Creche) and the Moving Picture Mime Show (The Examination).

Today, I have started to design a new Pulcinella mask. I am moving the mask away from Mr.Punch, which I made a few years ago, in order to return to the Neapolitan Polichinello.

More of the Chicken yet still with a bit of the joyous sado-masochist. A terrible hideously brutal honesty and raw sense of inevitable justice, even against his-self.windows-phone_20170304_003windows-phone_20170305_002windows-phone_20170305_003windows-phone_20170305_001

And yes, your bum does look enormous with the ‘bum-role’ in place.

Thank you Becky Matter for modelling.
